Celebrating aspiration, achievement, and the tenacity that connects them, this clock is based on the parachute of the 2021 Mars Rover "Perseverance".
Crafted from almost 200 individual pieces of beautiful curly maple and padauk woods, the pattern of colors encodes a binary message: "Dare mighty things". The outer ring contains GPS coordinates; while the real-life parachute signaled back to Nasa's JPL, this one-of-a-kind recreation points forward to Las Vegas, NV and the perseverance of the Desert Bus For Hope dream.
The custom hands each pay tribute to space exploration: the hour hand is the iconic Atlas 5 rocket which carried Perseverance to Mars. The minute hand is the silhouette of the inspirational 1977 Voyager 1 space probe, our "present from a small distant world."
The clock has been sealed against moisture and UV to last a lifetime. It measures 15" across by 1.5" deep (not including hands), hangs flush on any wall and is powered by one AA battery.
