| Auction Description | These daggers took a roundabout route to Desert Bus this year. Originally, the crafter conceived these as a single longsword, but after more than 15 hours of grinding and polishing, a sudden slip of her hand left the sword in two pieces. With the deadline approaching and limited access to the necessary equipment, she knew she wouldn't be able to finish a whole new blade in time, so she prepared to drop out of the Craft-Along. But something occurred to her: at their core, Child's Play and Desert Bus for Hope are all about creating joy and beauty in defiance of misfortune and hardship. And what better way would she, as a crafter, have to embody that than by taking a seemingly broken project and turning the flaws into strengths? So the sword became a pair of daggers, drawn from a single blade and carefully ground to match each other. If you win them, hopefully you find beauty in that. Cleaning and care: Household glass cleaner works well, but the edges are sharpened and very susceptible to chipping because of how thin they are. Please be careful when handling and cleaning! |
